I was very lucky to be given a tour around the new 15 bedded palliative care unit at Lewis-Manning Hospice in Poole Dorset.
Set in a stunning location overlooking Poole Harbour and Brownsea Island They enable people to find “a new normal”, to manage their symptoms and to enjoy now.
The services that they offer are a day hospice (advice and support for patients and their carers, pain and symptom management physiotherapy, rehabilitation, creative arts and aromatherapy) In addition Breathlessness clinic.
Bereavement services for patients and carers.
Bedded palliative care unit.
They receive a third of our funding from the NHS Bournemouth and Poole, the remaining £50,000 each month is raised through events, corporate and community donations, our 10 hospice charity shops, legacies and donations. They need to raise this amount each month to continue providing FREE specialist palliative nursing care to hundreds of local people with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.
If you can help in any way be it volunteering or making a donation please visit
